Sharing the joy of children’s books

Bliain na nAmhrán

0

This week, we have a lovely Irish-language pick from Aonghus Ó hAlmhain in the form of a re-issue of Bliain na nAmhrán, a CD and book about the four seasons.

Bliain na nAmhránDon tuismitheoir atá ag tógáil clann le Gaeilge scoite amach ó chroí phobal na Gaeilge, tá áiseanna fearacht CD an-luachmhar. Bhí an céad cóip de Bliain na nAmhrán agam deich bliana ó shin agus mé an-sásta leis. Amhrán nua atá i gceist, iad ag plé le séasúir na bliana. Tadhg Mac Dhonnagáin a chum iad don gcuid is mó, le cabhair ó John Ryan, agus Tadhg a chan iad le cabhair ó roinnt paistí.

Anois, deich bliana níos déanaí tá eagrán iomlán nua curtha ar fáil agus leabhar ag dul leis leis na focail ar fad ann. Tá an CD álainn – chomh maith le Tadhg agus a iníon Róise tá Caitlín Ní Chualáin ag canadh, agus leanaí ó Scoil Sailearna i nGaeltacht Chonamara.

Tá sé an-tábhachtach go gcloisfeadh leanaí leanaí i nGaeilge!

Is seod atá sa leabhar féin. Tá cáil ar Futa Fata as feabhas a bpictúirleabhar, agus san leabhar seo tá gach ráithe maisithe ag duine ar leith den gcliar cumasach sin – Christina O’Donavan (earrach), Brian Fitzgerald (samhradh), Tarsila Krüse (fómhar) agus Jennifer Farley (geimhreadh).

Cuireann na pictiúr go mór leis na focail agus tá greann agus gean sna hamhráin – taitneoidh siad go mór le óg agus sean. Beidh an leabhar an-oiriúnach do scoileanna chomh maith le do theaghlaigh ina bhfuil na páistí ag foghlaim Gaeilge sa bhaile.

On it’s 10th anniversary, the Year of Song (Bliain na nAmhrán) CD has been re-issued with some additional songs by Tadhg Mac Dhonnagáin and John Ryan. New songs for children which go through the cycle of the seasons with love and humour. In addition to the CD there is a hardback book with the words beautifully illustrated by some of those who have contributed to Futa Fata’s impressive portfolio of picture books – Christina O’Donavan (spring), Brian Fitzgerald (summer), Tarsila Krüse (autumn) and Jennifer Farley (winter).

A treasure for schools and Irish speaking households.
