Sharing the joy of children’s books

Reviews

Books, glorious books! That’s what Gobblefunked is all about: sharing some of our favourite books – be they hot of the press or much-loved and dogeared, gathering dust at the back of that bookshelf – and hearing about some of yours!

We aim to make our reviews as honest as possible; if we don’t like a book you, our readers, will know all about it, and we like to think we can cater for kids from 0 to 90; from little boys who love stories about adventure, to teen girls who fancy a scare at bedtime, and everything in between.

We also regularly invite guest bloggers to join us on the metaphorical Gobblefunked sofa and tell us about some of their favourite books as children and/or current top reads.

If you are an author and would like us to review your book, check out our review policy below to find out more about how to get in touch. Or if you would like to review for Gobblefunked, complete our reviewer application form.

Review policy
Authors, agents and publishers. You are more than welcome to send a copy of new and forthcoming titles to be considered for review on Gobblefunked. However, we cannot guarantee a review for any book nor can we guarantee that a review will be favourable. All reviews on this website are the honest opinions of the individual reviewer.

Check out our guidelines below for more details on what we accept.

  • We accept board books; picture books, including wordless picture books; activity books; fiction for children aged 5-12; YA fiction; graphic novels for children; dyslexia-friendly books; Irish language books; and Indigenous Australian literature for children.
  • We accept both print (hardback and paperback) and digital review copies of books. While we can accept EPUB and MOBI digital books, our file preference is PDF.
  • As we rely on a number of external reviewers, particularly in our teen section, we cannot always guarantee a publication date for a review.
  • We are available to participate in blog tours but require a minimum of one month’s notice.
  • We do not accept payment or sponsorship for favourable reviews.
  • As we are regular columnists on maternityandinfant.ie, your book may be considered as our Bookworm Wednesday choice, however only books suitable for children ages 0-7 will be considered.
  • While we are contactable on social media, if you would like to submit a book for review, please complete our review request form.
